Former Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden has told the Government of President Bio that they must stop the bad treatment of indigenes of Kissi Chiefdoms of Kailahun District as if Kissis were second-class citizens of Sierra Leone.

She also asked Government to shed light on whereabouts of a cash grant project worth over two billion leones. She said the project known as BIAWE (Business Incubator for African Women Entrepreneurs) had been all set to be implemented to improve on livelihood of Kissi Women.

She said but now Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) led Government says two billion leones is “too much money” to spend on Kissi women and so money which former All Peoples Congress (APC) Government had secured for Kissi women was now to be given to Women of Bo District.

Social Welfare Ministry sources have confirmed that SLPP Government has indeed diverted BIAWE money from Kissi Teng to Bo.

It can be recalled that Bo has been a recent preferred destination of items initially meant for other places like Kono (a generator), Makeni (water pipes) and now Kissi Women have also lost their two billion leones to Bo Women.

Dr. Blyden says for SLPP to ignore pains of Kissi indigenes and how much support Kissis need from all of us especially after Ebola, is heartless and selfish.

She urged the Kissi people to as well strongly insist on answers for the over two billion leones money of BIAWE Project for Kissi Women as well as answers for the PERSIF Project.

She said the over two billion leones BIAWE cash was already secured by the APC Government for Kissi Women so the Kissi people should pressure the Bio-led SLPP Government to explain why the money has been diverted to Bo District Women.
