The National Executive Council (NEC) of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party has in a meeting held on Saturday 12th March, 2016, resolved to extend the tenure of all executives of the party until 17th June, 2016.


This followed the NEC earlier resolution of 10th January, 2016, by which it extended the mandate of the current executives of the party to 13th March, 2016.

Furthermore, NEC says that it has taken considerations of Section 35 of Sierra Leone Constitution which calls on all political parties to ensure that their internal organization operates in line with the democratic principles of the state as well as other relevant parts of Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) Act.

SLPP NEC also resolved that as soon as PPRC makes it final determination with regards to the objections received in respect to the SLPP’s recently enacted rules and regulations of the party, the NEC shall convene not later than seven (7) days from the date of such determination so as to decide on the way forward.

NEC also wants SLPP’s National Delegates Conference held not later than 17th June, 2016.

Meanwhile, National Officers of the party shall meet regularly upon notice of not less than 14 days (emergencies excepted) as called by SLPP Chairman and Leader or his Deputy. The resolution release was signed by the Chairman & Leader Somano Kapen.
