SierraLeone’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice has dismissed as “untrue” social media reports that she has resigned her position.
“I can categorically state that I have NOT resigned and have NO intentions of resigning as Attorney General and Minister of Justice”, Dr Priscilla Schwartz told BBC Reporter, Umaru Fofona.
She said she was enjoying working with the Bio administration hence no reasons existed for her to quit.
About the three commissions of inquiry to look into the activities of the Ernest Bai Koroma administration, Dr Schwartz said the process was “on course” but would not start tomorrow as expected.
She said the courtrooms were still being set up and the judges hadn’t yet arrived, but that the secretariat was well and truly functioning.
She said they had received “encouraging cooperation” from the public, and apologized for the delay in starting which she said was due to the construction work. She wouldn’t give any exact date but assured “definitely this January”.
