Reports from reliable sources at Aberdeen Police Station and Sierra Leone Tourist Board (SLTB) have intimated this press that following the discovery of the half-naked corpse of a young lady along the Lumley Beach on May 11th 2016, seven arrests including four Chinese nationals, three Sierra Leoneans – two females and one male have been made by CID.

According to reports, the arrests were made following a tip-off by some eye-witnesses who claimed that on the day before the young lady was found allegedly murdered; she had been seen in the company of four Chinese men, three Sierra Leone females (including the deceased) and one Sierra Leonean known simply as Mohamed who served as a guide for the Chinese nationals.

They are now in custody at CID headquarters in Freetown helping police with investigations.

Police say they are not in any way assuming that the suspects currently under police custody could have been the actual alleged culprits but that they are not leaving any stone unturned as this is not the first time such an ugly incident is taking place along the Aberdeen/Lumley Beach axis.

According to reports, initially when the discovery was made, beach bar owners and others working the beachfronts were harassed and molested for information which could lead to the arrest of the actual culprits. One thing led to another and beach bar owners were summarily ejected until further notice.

However, after several representations and confrontations, the Manager of Tourist Board, Yassin Kargbo reportedly took the initiative to hold meetings with the beach bar owners for them to collaborate with the Aberdeen Police led by LUC Supt. Samadia and the Tourist Board to see how best they could solicit information (no matter trivial or unimportant) from anyone who could have heard or seen anything in this direction.

Following this collaborative effort among the Aberdeen Police (that is desperately trying to solve this mystery in collaboration with the CID), the Managing Director of Tourist Board Mr. Yassin Kargbo (who wants to rebrand the beachfront) and the beach bar owners (who are desperate to clear their names of any blame), it emerged that some beach frequenters claimed to have seen the deceased lady with two of her colleagues with the said Chinese nationals and the Sierra Leonean guide.

Reports state that they forwarded this information on the basis of anonymity. They also disclosed to police that the four Chinese nationals live at a place along the beachfront called China Town.

The Chinese nationals whose names are not being disclosed until investigations are completed are currently in police custody alongside the two ladies and Mohamed.

Police say they already have the camera phone of one of the Chinese nationals which contains a photograph of the owner of the phone together with the deceased lady.

When contacted, LUC Aberdeen Police Station, Superintendent Samadia confirmed the arrests, adding that the matter is being investigated by the CID.

He however commended the collaborative efforts of the Tourist Board General Manager Mr. Yassin Kargbo, the beach bar owners and the Aberdeen Police. Investigations continue.
