The Sierra Leone Police told the former United Nations Strong man that they will not provide security for him as “they don’t want to be in the habit of providing personal security for people.”, Sierraloaded gathered.

This comes after Kandeh Yumkella, who is aspiring for the Presidency under the main opposition Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP) requested for security from the Police for the second time.

Just three months ago, the police denied Kandeh Yumkella the right to go to the southern headquarter town of Bo on the grounds that “they cannot guarantee him security” but the Police guaranteed the security of Kandeh’s closest rival, Julius Maada Bio, with a truck load of Police Officers when he wanted to go on a nationwide tour reportedly on the orders of the President.

Meanwhile, Kandeh Yumkella seemed determine to go around the country with and without police clearance as he told the media, “I don’t need a police clearance to go around the country”

He said that he will be leaving the capital Freetown for the provinces on a nationwide tour to sensitize people on a range of things including the need for them to come out and be counted in the National Housing and Population Census.

He said that he is not in confrontation with the police as he is still trying to figure out the reason for the police refusing him security but expressed optimism that perhaps the police do not want to create a cause for alarm.
