The headquarters of Sierra Leone`s Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) caught fire early on Tuesday morning, Sierraloaded reports.

The building, which is located in the central part of the capital, Freetown, just a stone throw away from State House, it took the National Fire Force spent close to four hours struggling to put out the fire.

Officials have however not yet given any possible explanation for the outbreak.

It all started at around 2 am when the fire broke out at the 6 the floor of the building.

However fire fighters rushed to the scene to put the fire out but they were unable to gain access ad the entire building was locked and there was nobody to produce keys of the building.

Security is tight and smoke is still coming out of the main building.

Part of the main Siaka Stevens Street, along which the facility is located, has been cordoned off from vehicular use, causing a serious traffic jam for better part of Tuesday morning in that part of the city.

Sierraloaded gathered that the fire mostly affected the fifth floor of the six-storey building.
