Gay or Lesbianism has become a spoken taboo in Sierra Leone, a country that signed the International Convention for the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination and the Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman and other Degrading Treatment.

In Sierra Leone, despite the domestication of the international treaties that opposes all inhuman treatment on the basis of sexual orientation, Lesbians and gays are subject of intimidation. This, according to many Sierra Leonean clerics, is because the Holy Qur’an and Bible are against Gays, Lesbians or homosexual behavior.

AYV News reports that over the weekend, the parents of Salamatu Yabom Bangura-age 24 and Esther Marah-age 22 of 131 Blackhall road, Kissy, Freetown stormed its office in tears. They complained that their daughters were caught engaged in the act of lesbianism on the 15th December 2015.
