The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is reportedly interested in the travelling expenses of the Minister of Information and Communications that was unearthed by the Parliamentary Sub-Appropriation Committee chaired by Hon. Binneh Bangura.

Hon. Binneh Bangura expressed dissatisfaction with the level of performance of the Ministry in acquiring overseas tickets and the blatant conflict of interest playing in the Ministry.

The fabulous amount of money which the Ministry spent on overseas tickets for the Minister, Alhaji Alpha Kanu, was strenuously defended by his Deputy, Mr. Theo Nicol.

According to the Deputy Minister, the figure presented to the Appropriation Committee was faulty and should be looked into by the professional heads of the Ministry.

He argued that the Minister only travelled twice, but failed to indicate the exact amount of money spent on those travels.

Meanwhile, Sierraloaded has learnt that a vehicle owned by the Ministry of Information and Communications with the registration number AGV 684 is permanently parked at the frontage of the Deputy Minister’s residence at Congo Town, but it is not clear what the vehicle is doing there as effort to contact the Deputy Minister proved futile.

Many concerned Sierra Leoneans interviewed on the mouth-watering money the Information Ministry spent on overseas tickets for the Minister and the conflict of interest in the Ministry suggested the intervention of the anti-grant agent to speedily investigate the Ministry and the Minister.
